A popular Welsh castle, built by Edward I and besieged three times in the English Civil War, has a new set of invaders – a life-size set of chess pieces. The figures are part of a major renovation at Caernarfon Castle that explores the history of the fortress and its role in medieval history and features four exhibitions. The distinctive concentric castle is one of Wales’ top visitor attractions. Caernarfon’s waterfront has also been regenerated  as part of the project. Read more: bbc.co.uk
