Plans for a massive slide down London’s Orbit Tower, next to the Olympic Stadium, have been approved. The 178m-long slide will be 76m tall and the descent will take 40 seconds, making it the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide.
Transparent sections will allow people to see out across London as they slide down. The Orbit, designed by Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, sits in East London’s Queen Elizabeth Park and met with a mixed reception when it opened in 2012, with one newspaper describing it as ‘Meccano on crack’.
