
After his death in a car accident last month it has been discovered that a long standing member of the far north Queensland tourism community was secretly an American drug fugitive who faked his own death more than 40 years ago. Crocodile cruise operator Dennis "Lee" Lafferty had been indicted for smuggling 12 tonnes of cannabis in the mid-1970s and supposedly died in a scuba diving accident in 1974, despite no body being recovered.
