Geological studies of the region of Nepal affected by earthquakes on 25 April and 12 May have revealed that some areas fell by three feet as a result of the tremors. A three-dimensional map showing changes in terrain indicates that some peaks actually increased in height, while areas of the Himalayan foothills were forced downwards.
