Shanghai’s new Natural History Museum opened on Sunday to great fanfare as huge crowds of people queued to get a look inside. The museum, located within Jing’an Sculpture Park, replaces the 58-year-old museum on Yan’an Rd that closed last year. Exhibitions feature ancient specimens and samples, including a complete 140-million-year-old Mamenchisaurus skeleton and other rare species like the Yellow River mammoth and Yangtze alligator.
