Archaeologists working in Bavaria, Germany, dug up a tasty piece of history in the form of a 250-year-old pretzel, thought to be the world’s oldest. Experts working on the excavation say the reason the iconic Bavarian treat survived so long was because it was burnt, and have concluded that its baker simply threw it away. The team are examining the site ahead of construction of a museum to mark the centenary of Bavaria's recognition as a free state in 2018. Read more: thelocal.de
