Three dedicated internet rooms in Pyongyang’s new international airport purportedly don’t feature the one thing they were built for: access to the internet.
Journalists from Associated Press said they travelled through the airport on two recent trips and were either unable to access the rooms, or found them keyboard-less or completely empty. Reporters did try to access a browser in one of the rooms, but received an ‘failure to connect’ error message. Public access to the internet is severely restricted in North Korea, with only approved officials able to use the open international internet. Pyongyang’s new airport opened in late June and some have argued the internet rooms were created in a bid to look the part for arriving tourists, rather than actual use. Read more: chinapost.com
