
The New York attorney general released a report on Thursday outlining the state’s stance on Airbnb, the popular room rental and sharing service. According to the report, 72% of Airbnb listings violate laws that typically apply to hotels. The report claims business operators run over a third of the listings, not individuals, and some of these operators are managing what are essentially ‘illegal hotels’ that don’t follow hotel laws and regulations. Airbnb did not directly dispute the report, but a spokesperson said the company is dedicated to protecting ‘regular people who simply want to share the home in which they live.’ Read more: nytimes.com
