Underwater excavations at the Antikythera shipwreck in Greece, dating from the 1st century BC, have resulted in a discovery of new treasures. The latest findings include wood, lead and pottery.
The most valuable find from the shipwreck is the famous Antikythera Mechanism, often called the world’s oldest known computer. The shipwreck was originally discovered in 1901. A travelling exhibition called ‘The Sunken Treasure - The Antikythera Shipwreck’ will open in Switzerland on 3 October and for the first time the collection of 370 artifacts will be shown abroad.
