Plans are underway to construct a new stargazing centre near the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar.

The Khublai Complex will see a hefty expansion and upgrade to the existing Khurel Togoot Astronomical Observatory, established in 1957. Plans for the 50-hectare complex include an outdoor theatre for summer stargazing, an astronomy site with telescopes for hire, and an astronaut training facility and rocket launch test site with viewing area for visitors. Facilities will also be upgraded and new roads and bus routes will be added. If approved, construction will begin in 2016 and be completed by 2030. Read more: ubpost.mongolnews.mn
