One of the world’s rarest bird species, the Black-capped Petrel, has been sighted in Dominica more than 150 years after the bird was thought to have been wiped out due to overhunting and the introduction of foreign predators in the area.

A team of scientists discovered a colony of the birds and now plans to locate and confirm active nests to aid in conservation efforts. It is estimated that only 4,000 of the birds exist globally. Read more: caribbean360.com
