The British role in India is well known, but fewer people are aware of Britain’s colonial endeavours in Nepal. Today marks the 200th anniversary of the Anglo-British war, which saw the British East India Company seizing large areas of land from the Gorkhali kingdom, including Garhwal and Kumaon in modern-day Uttarkhand.
