A violinist was 'more than relieved' to be reunited with her 1727 Stradivarius, after she left it in the luggage compartment of a train in western Germany. Police in Saarbrücken tracked down the instrument, worth €2.4 million, upon discovering that the train she had been travelling on had returned to Mannheim.
Only around half of the estimated 1100 violins made by the master Italian luthier Antonio Stradivarius are still in existence, and are prized for the quality of sound they produce. Read more: thelocal.de
