The Mumbai police force has issued a warning about 15 danger spots where taking a selfie could cause serious risk to life.

The selfie danger zones include local beauty spots, the battlements of coastal forts and sea-defences where hapless selfie-takers have been swept away. As well as prominent warning boards, the danger zones will be policed 24 hours a day to discourage snappers who ignore the warnings. Globally, selfies kill more people than shark-attacks, and the response by Mumbai police follows a series of selfie-related deaths, most recently the drowning of a 19-year-old girl at the Bandra Bandstand on Saturday.
