A new multilingual robot has been unveiled at Tokyo’s waterfront commercial district of Odaiba.
The Toshiba-made robot – named ChihiraJunco – can speak Japanese, English and Chinese, and gives presentations introducing the shops, restaurants and events in the area. At this stage the android only speaks, but will soon be able to also respond to some questions from visitors. Toshiba said it plans to produce three more similar androids by the end of March, to be used at other public spaces. Read more: japantime.co.jp
