First it was Dungeness crab, and now it’s sea lions who are being affected by a toxic acid released by algae along the West Coast of the USA. Sea lions from California, Oregon and Washington are washing ashore displaying signs of poisoning which affects their memory and ability to navigate at sea.

Previously crab lovers had been warned to avoid Dungeness crab after catches were found to contain potentially dangerous levels of the same demoic acid that is now harming the sea lions. Read more: sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com
