A monkey has caused uproar at a temple in Vrindavan by raining handfuls of 500 rupee notes down on stunned devotees.

Nearly 150,000 rupees fluttered down over the crowds at the Banke Bihari temple, but rumours of a miracle were quickly dispelled when the owner of the cash came forward and announced that the sly simian had swiped the money from her purse.
