Flying to Mexico is so 2014. A new initiative at Vanderbilt University in Nashville is allowing people to chat with citizens of Mexico City without leaving the campus grounds.

A gilded shipping container, called The Portal, lets Nashvillians talk for twenty minutes to their southern neighbours using sophisticated audio and video technologies. Despite launch problems last Friday (caused by storm-related technical difficulties) the project will continue until the 12th of October. Read more: vanderbilthustler.com
