
Malta’s 14th annual fireworks festival kicks off this Saturday, with a spectacular display in the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk. The event will continue in the capital Valletta on Thursday 30 April and conclude on Sunday 2 May in the coastal town of Bugibba. The Maltese islands have a long history of fireworks shows, dating from the days of the Knights of St John, when explosives were set off to celebrate great victories in battle.
