McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas announced last week that it will double the number of gates in its international terminal.
The airport hopes the expansion will allow it to receive more direct international flights, primarily from Asia. Last year the airport was the ninth busiest in the US, with 43 million passengers passing through its gates, 19% of whom were foreign visitors. The President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority hinted at a possible plan to attract visitors from China, though there are as yet no direct flights from that country.
