A 15-year-old boy in the Indian city of Mumbai has beaten the world record for the most runs scored in a single innings of cricket, during an inter-school match between KC Gandhi High School and Arya Gurukul School.

Schoolboy Pranav Dhanawade scored 1009 runs from 323 balls in his record breaking innings, which lasted six and half hours. Inter-school cricket is fiercely competitive in India, and particularly in Mumbai, where school cricket teams have produced such national legends as Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma.
