The government of India has given its strongest indication yet that negotiations over cross-border travel between the four nations in the BBIN group - India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh - will be completed by the end of the year, allowing drivers to take their vehicles across the borders for the first time.
Limited cross-border bus travel is already permitted, but the change could have a significant effect on tourism across the region, making it easier to travel overland between all four nations. A road rally is planned for mid-November to mark the launch of ‘borderless travel’. Read more: thehindu.com
