The government of India is being sued by a tiny island republic in the South Pacific over its nuclear weapons policy. The government of the Marshall Islands is hoping to pressure India to honour its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty at the International Court of Justice. Both India and Pakistan are signatories to the treaty, but the nuclear neighbours are locked in a regional arms race rivalling that between Russia and the USA during the Cold War.
