A Gold Coast company specialising in assisting young travellers to Australia on working holiday visas has agreed to refund money to 29 customers after the Queensland Office of Fair Trading found some of its practices were unfair.

Inexperienced younger travellers often sign up for assistance with flights, visas and job introductions during their gap-year travels to Australia. The company was investigated by the Queensland government after a joint Australian and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation investigation found scores of customers complaining that Global Work and Travel Co (Global) added large mark-ups, used high pressure sales tactics, and made false promises about employment. As part of the negotiations, Global agreed to appoint an independent compliance advisor to help the company review its business practices and complaints handling procedures.
