Visitors can get a new perspective on London’s famous Tower Bridge thanks to a 42m-high glass-floored walkway. The walkways are a historic feature – they became a haunt for prostitutes and pickpockets in Victorian times, and were closed in 1910. They reopened in 1982 and have now been refitted with panels of reinforced glass, meaning visitors can view the bridge and ships passing beneath their feet – the walkway is open even when the bridge is raised for water traffic. The west walkway is already open and the east walkway will be opened on 1 December, with both accessible to those viewing the Tower Bridge Exhibition. Read more: standard.co.uk
