Members of the public have been invited to help hunt for fossils in the arid Turkana Basin of northern Kenya.

The effort is part of an online citizen science initiative called Fossilfinder, which will involve volunteers sifting through one million images from region. The photos were captured by archaeologists using special aerial camera systems mounted on kites, drones and other devices. The site launched Tuesday at the British Science Festival in Bradford.
