
Food from KFC and the popular Indian vegetarian food chain Sagar Ratna has been branded ‘unsafe’ by the food authorities in Delhi because rice served in the restaurants tested positive for food colouring. The ban on chemical additives was introduced to prevent producers from adulterating foods with unsafe chemicals or selling foods with high levels of pesticides, but the regulations are being interpreted very strictly, with even safe coloured foods being banned from sale.
