An unusual animal was seen wandering around Forest Park near Portland, OR, on Saturday. Hikers and bikers spotted the long-horned, brown-and-white animal and reported the sighting on social media.

When it was identified as an oryx, a local owner of a herd of oryx was notified, and the animal was recaptured and returned to the owner’s property. An oryx is a type of antelope once native to Africa, but has been classified as extinct in the wild. The animal has been reintroduced to protected areas through captive breeding.
