A restaurant in the wealthy capital of Qatar has started offering free meals for those who don’t have enough money to pay. The owners put up a sign saying “If you are hungry and have no money, eat for free!” after noticing that many of their customers could only afford to buy a packet of bread. Many foreign labourers in Qatar are on a low wage, much of which is sent back home and some Qatari companies have been criticised for paying their workers late or not at all. The Doha restaurant’s scheme has been such a success the owners now plan to leave an unlocked fridge outside for those in need to help themselves. Read more: thenational.ae
