Dogs of all breeds and sizes hit the water this week in a canine surfing competition in Southern California. The three-day Surf City Surf Dog event ran from 25 to 27 September in Huntington Beach.
This is the seventh year of the competition which kicked off with a red carpet opening ceremony and a costume contest.
On Saturday, events were held at the International Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach, featuring an exhibit on the history of dog surfing and an induction ceremony for some of the best canine surfers to the International Surf Dog Walk of Fame.
The main competition was held on Sunday, with contestants competing in the Shredder/pro heats, four weight-class divisions, and tandem heats. The dogs were judged on different skills, including length of their ride and confidence on the board.
