The governments of Denmark and Greenland are to submit a bid to lay claim to the North Pole, redefining the boundaries of the continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean. Danish Foreign Minister, Martin Lidegaard, insists 'this is not an aggressive action'. While Canada and Russia have both made claims to The Commission on the Limits and the Continental Shelf (CLCS), Denmark will be the first country to try to obtain outright ownership of the North Pole.
