A 1400-year-old Buddha statue whose head was stolen a decade ago will soon have it returned. The marble statue, which dates to the Northern Qi era (550-557), was housed in a museum in China’s Heibei province after its head was stolen from a temple in 1996. The head was discovered by a private collector in Taiwan and will be reattached to the body and repairs made before the statue goes on display for a three month exhibition at the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center in Kaohsiung next year.
