A supposed self-portrait of Italian painter Leonardo Da Vinci that is on display in Taiwan has been debunked as a fake.
The organisers of the exhibition claim the painting was verified by Italian experts, however external Da Vinci experts say the painting dates from after 1715, some 200 years after the master painter’s death. The exhibition, which is being held at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei, already suffered one blow when a boy tripped and fell, ripping a hole in a 17th century Paolo Porpora painting.
