A new burger released by McDonald’s in China has caused shock and digust among Chinese netizens.
The ‘Modern China Burger’ consists of two pork patties, streaky bacon, lettuce and Sichuan-pepper ketchup sandwiched between two grey pieces of bread. The fast food chain has said the bun is supposed to be a sesame seed version of mantou, a fluffy, Chinese-style steamed bun. Netizens were popping up on social media channels to show off their grey-bunned orders; the limited-edition burger will be available at McDonald’s outlets in mainland China until 3 November.
