The medieval Chęciny Royal Castle in southern-central Poland has reopened to the public, following a two-year restoration project. Dating from the 13th century and occupied for over 500 years, the castle is the one of the area's most popular tourist attractions. The castle fell into ruins after it was used as a state prison, and the renovations cost PLN 8 million, much of which was funded by the EU. Read more: thenews.pl
