Brazil's first monorail, Linha-15 Prata (the Silver-15 Line), begins service in São Paulo today.
The line is currently using only two of the 18 stations planned - the first section stretches roughly a mile between Oratory and Vila Prudente stations, which connects with the Metro green line. Once fully completed and operational, the line will connect Ipiranga and Cidade Tiradentes and will be able to transport 500,000 passengers a day.
