A beluga whale has been spotted off the coast of County Antrim in Northern Ireland. It’s believed to be the first time the white-skinned Arctic species has been recorded in the area.

Rare sightings of whales in Europe have been increasing in recent years, and the first-ever European sighting of a bowhead whale took place in February in the Isles of Scilly. It is thought that fragmenting sea ice may have encouraged whales to range further south. Read more: bbc.co.uk
