Bangladesh has imposed tight security checks on foreigners at its main border crossing with India at Benapole in the hope of catching the militants who killed two foreign citizens in the country in the last week.

Foreigners trying to cross the border face one-on-one checks and will be escorted to the border by border officials. Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio and Italian citizen Cesare Tavella were shot dead by unknown assailants, but a claim of responsibility was issued by a group allied to ISIS, the Middle Eastern Islamist group.
