Sardinian politician Mauro Pili claims to have stopped the auction of a 4,500-year-old mother-goddess icon by Christie’s, which was due to take place in New York on 11 December. Pili wants the icon, which is potentially worth up to US$1.2 million, to be returned to Sardinia. Read more: ansa.it
