Archaeologists working on an excavation in Tilaurakot, the city where Gautama Siddhartha, the historical Buddha, spend the first 29 years of his life, have uncovered a horde of 300 silver coins, hidden inside a collection of clay pots. Tilaurakot is just one of several sites linked to the life of the Buddha in Nepal and it is hoped that the digs will reveal more about the history of the ancient city, and about the opulent lifestyle enjoyed by the Buddha before he renounced materials things and began his quest for enlightenment.
