Danish archaeologists working on a survey ahead of the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link project – which will link Denmark to Germany with a new tunnel – have discovered a ceramic pot showing the fingerprint of the artisan who created it.

The 5,500 year old print was left unintentionally but, according to archaeologist Line Marie Olesen, it is a "very personal signature, which somehow brings us a bit closer to the prehistoric people and their actions.” The ceramic pot is characteristic of the Funnel Beaker Culture present in Scandinavia and the north European plain from 4000-2800 BC.
