The first Amtrak trains to serve the Philadelphia to New York route since the derailment which killed eight people and injured more than 200 last week began rolling on Monday morning. Philadelphia mayor, Michael Nutter, was on the platform to see the first train depart at 5:30am and gave the first person in line a hug. The train carried around 60 passengers on the New York bound route. Amtrak president, Joseph Boardman, said the trains would be offering a ‘safer service’ and that crews had been working non-stop to get the trains running again. Read more: chicagotribune.com
