Plans to build a new modern art museum in Almaty, Kazakhstan have been approved by the city council.

The museum will sit on two hectares adjacent to the city’s existing botanical gardens. Organisers hope the museum will be a tourism drawcard for Almaty, which in recent years has taken an architectural backseat behind the country’s new capital city, Astana. No announcement was made about when construction would begin. Read more: inform.kz
