If your holiday plans include a trip to Dubai, you’ll be glad to learn that the already-vibrant culinary scene is set to get even more interesting with the news that a famous chef is opening a hotel restaurant there.
Massimo Bottura, the chef behind the three Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana, is opening an Italian restaurant called Torno Subito at the W Dubai – The Palm, his first restaurant outside his native Italy. It will be a more casual offering than Osteria Francescana, which was crowned number one in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 awards.
The offering promises to take guests on a journey back to 1960s Italy, where, it says, “the vibe is sophisticated and social, but laidback.” You can dine indoors and on the terrace, or can order food to your bed at the beach or take it to have as a picnic on the lagoon.
The hotel is due to open in October 2018 and will have 350 guest rooms and suites. With a spa, wet deck and gym, it describes itself as offering an oasis “remixing never-ending interpretations of music, fashion, design and fuel from sunrise to sunset.”
It will also host another celebrity chef, the award-winning Akira Back, who will be bringing his signature Japanese fine dining fare to the glamorous hotel. Back’s portfolio of restaurants includes Kumi Japanese Restaurant +Bar by Akira Back at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and the famed Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge by Akira Back at Bellagio Resort & Casino.
