There’s nothing like hitting the streets on foot to experience a city just like a local. And when it comes to US destinations, Boston boasts some of the best walking routes a bustling metropolis could hope for. With that in mind and to encourage exploration, one hotel has introduced a unique new package that rewards guests discounts according to the number of steps that they take.
Launched by Hotel Commonwealth, the “Fit to be [Kenmore] Square” package encourages healthy living, and sees guests being given Fitbits that can track their steps throughout their stay. The more visitors walk, the more money they save, with 10,000 steps a day being equal to 10% off, 15,000 steps being equal to 15% off and 20,000 steps being equal to 20% off. The package includes a stay in a deluxe room, a $20 gift card for New Balance, bottled water and healthy snacks upon arrival, and a special “power breakfast” at the hotel’s restaurant Eastern Standard.
Located on Back Bay near Fenway Park and Boston University, the hotel is in a prime location for exploring the city. Further afield, popular walks include an amble through the campus of Harvard University, while the popular Freedom Trail winds its way around the city, connecting 16 historically significant sites.
With countless health-conscious travelers exploring destinations all over the world, many hotels have begun updating their offerings to reflect diverse interests in 2018. Recently another Boston establishment, The Colonnade Hotel, announced packages that allow guests to take part in poolside yoga and kickboxing classes on its rooftop terrace. Other unique packages at Hotel Commonwealth include “Sleep in & Savor” which sees guests having breakfast in bed, and the “Build a Bed” package, which includes a half day volunteering experience for children in need.
