With summer soon on its way, people in Boston will no doubt be pleased about the seasonal opening of the city’s only rooftop pool, located twelve stories up in The Colonnade Hotel. And while guests in need of relaxation can now lounge by the water or take a leisurely dip, the hotel has just announced activities aimed at active visitors, with the introduction of poolside kickboxing as well as yoga classes.
Located above the bustling streets of Back Bay, the rooftop pool at The Colonnade Hotel features a 12-seater bar and an area that can be used for a diverse selection of special events, including live music nights and special tastings. Visitors can even book chaise lounges and private cabanas, with food on offer that includes New England lobster rolls and avocado toast with spiced swordfish. A popular spot with sun lovers, this year sees the rooftop bar offering even more choice when it comes to events.
From 20 June onwards, locals and hotel guests alike can stretch out their muscles with Rebecca Pecheco, a Boston yoga teacher and author who will lead attendees through invigorating vinyasa classes suitable for all levels. Kick It with Eliza, a high energy, music-driven 13-round class inspired by kickboxing and led by teacher Eliza Shirazi will launch on 21 June. The hotel is also running a series of special food events, beginning 12 June, which offers guests the chance to sample dishes made by visiting chefs, with all of the money from ticket sales for the event being donated to Share Our Strength and No Kid Hungry.
Talking to Lonely Planet Travel News, Kick It Founder Eliza Shirazi said the experience aims to “not only deliver a great work out, but an exciting summer experience of fitness followed by recovery by the pool.”
Events start at $20, and more information on summertime activities is available at the official Colonnade Hotel website.
