To infinity and beyond...fly to Shanghai’s new Toy Story Land in a themed plane

Recently, Shanghai Disney Resort celebrated the opening of Disney Pixar Toy Story Land, the seventh specially-themed area and the first major expansion of Shanghai Disneyland since it first opened its gates in 2016. Featuring unique attractions and activities, the new addition has proven to be an instant hit. And now, the special experience can start even sooner, as a new Toy Story-themed airplane has just been unveiled in Shanghai that takes excited visitors to infinity and beyond.

Introduced at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport by China Eastern Airlines, the themed flight sees guests boarding a plane emblazoned with colourful images of Buzz Lightyear and Woody along its body, while on the inside, the whole décor has also been created along the same theme. In place of the usual finishes seen on aircraft, the plane includes cushion covers, tray tables, luggage containers and ceilings painted in vibrant shades featuring characters from the franchise. The experience begins with guests being handed commemorative boarding passes, while during the journey, special in-flight entertainment has been added to create a fully immersive experience.

The maiden flight even saw some familiar characters boarding the plane, with Woody, Buzz, Jessie and Lotso all on hand to celebrate the launch. The plane landed at Beijing, where it will be used on domestic routes to connect travellers to Shanghai.

Upon landing, Toy Story super fans can even stay in a dedicated themed hotel before going to Toy Story Land.

Upon arrival in Shanghai, Toy Story-obsessed fans can even stay in a themed hotel at the resort, while the new land features three new attractions – Slinky Dog Spin, Rex’s Racer, and Woody’s Roundup – as well as a themed character greeting and immersive shopping and dining experiences. “At Disney parks, we extend stories from the world’s favourite franchises, and bring them to life in fun and unexpected ways,” said Bob Chapek, chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. “We know how special Toy Story is to fans around the world, and we’re thrilled to welcome guests to play in Andy’s backyard at Shanghai Disney Resort.” A Toy Story Land is also due to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in June.
