The tidal island of St Michael’s Mount – one of the top attractions in Cornwall – is seeking a new visitor services manager. The job also comes with the option of living in a home of the rocky island in the south of England. According to the job posting, the island is one of Cornwall’s most iconic attractions, drawing in 350,000 visitors last year. The small island is topped with a medieval church and is connected to Marazion on the mainland by a causeway. At low-tide, the causeway provides a channel once used by pilgrims, but high waters means that visitors can jump on a ferry to get across.

The full-time job offers £24,000 to £29,000 in salary with service accommodation available on the island if the successful applicant wishes. Naturally, landing such a sweet gig will require some actual skills, which are required to give visitors to the island the best possible experience. The island is in need of someone to join a management team that “helps create the memories and inspire the team who brings the stories alive.” That includes being enthusiastic and dedicated, with a passion for service.

Due to the tidal island’s location, the manager will have to work “with tide and weather,” a task that will require an organised planner who enjoys working in the unique environment. They will have the responsibility of taking care of visitors’ experiences and managing more than 30 seasonal employees. The listing is calling for someone who is practical, positive, copes well under pressure, communicates well and can keep their team’s spirit high. If that sounds like you, then a new life on a tiny island might not be so far away. To learn more, see the official job listing here.
