If you’re hoping to travel to New York, Boston, Toronto and Washington from the UK and are planning on booking next week, you may be one of the 396 lucky people destined to nab a bargain flight. In celebration of the launch of its new transatlantic routes, low-cost Nordic airline, Primera Air, is offering 99 tickets for £99 (USD $138) on each of these routes from London Stansted.
Tickets will go on sale on 22 March, and are available on a first come, first served basis. The £99 ($138) fares will be valid for travel between 19 April and 9 December, and are part of the ‘Light’ travel package, which includes 10kg of hand luggage but no check-in bag. Primera has four other fare bands: Comfort, Flex, Premium and Premium Flex. Its Stansted to Newark service will start on 19 April, and its Boston service is due to launch on 18 May. The Toronto flights are scheduled to begin on 19 May and Washington on 22 August.
If you aren’t lucky enough to get one of the bargain flights, all is not lost. The budget carrier, which has been operating in northern Europe for the last 14 years, is still offering very reasonable fares. Its transatlantic fares start at £149 (US$208) one way, so even if you don’t get one of the sale flights, there is still a chance to cross the water very reasonably. It’s great news for the British, as this is the first time in ten years that transatlantic scheduled flights have operated from London Stansted.
If you’re hoping to try for a £99 (US$138) fare, the sale will go live on 22 March at 9am here.
