A seaside resort in Jamaica has unveiled a series of eye-catching over-water bungalows that allow guests to sleep in luxury accommodation right on the water.

Located at Sandals South Coast in Whitehouse, Jamaica, the twelve bungalows are arranged around a wooden dock in a heart formation, and merge modern design elements with palapa-style architecture. Officially opened on 15 December, the outside of the bungalows include soaking tubs for two, an over-the-water hammock, an outdoor shower and a suspended platform with a swim-up section, while the inside of the bungalows include see-through glass floors with views of the turquoise ocean, a king-size bed and a spa-style bathroom. At night-time the water is illuminated with special lighting beneath the glass floors, and a personalised butler and 24-hour room service are also available.

The accommodation is not the only over-water experience available at the resort. Guests can also have a drink at Latitudes Bar, which features special cantilevered hammocks and ocean views, while the Over-the-Water Wedding Chapel on the site is available for ceremonies. Over-water bungalows in a slightly different style and design are also available at two other Sandals locations, Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Royal Caribbean.
